The VGA |BIOS| is an extension the computer's standard BIOS which adds extended graphics capabilities. This provides a standard mechanism for programs to access the video card. Most newer cards will have extensions to the standard VGA commands to allow for greater resolutions and color depths. This is known generally as SVGA.
